The Longest Shortest Time

KICKSTART Longest Shortest Into Season 2

We’ve been seeing each other for awhile now, sometimes in the dead of night. Don’t you think it’s time we got serious?

I know you agree. For years you have been saying things like this to me when we meet up on iTunes:

You have offered to pay if I just promise to commit to you, see you more regularly. And I really hope you meant it, because today I am so excited (and nervous!) to announce my Kickstarter campaign for Season 2 of The Longest Shortest Time. Twelve episodes in six months.

I want it; you want it. I even made a video for you to remind you of the reasons why we need to give each other a little more.

If you are new to Kickstarter. A Kickstarter campaign is basically a personal pledge drive. You choose a contribution level; I give you a reward. My goal: $25,000. This is an all or nothing deal. If I don’t make my goal, no money transacts, and Season 2 does not happen.

Rewards. Go to my Kickstarter page to see all of the rewards that I cooked up for you. There’s LST Mad Libs, onesies, beautifully letterpressed greeting cards, sewing patterns from Liesl Gibson of Oliver + S (and also Episode 3!), a night out for dessert with me and a small group of moms! All of our rewards are in the spirit of this project. You can treat yourself in a time of need—or treat a partner, friend, or family member who could use a pick-me-up during the intense days of early parenthood.

If you run a small business. For those of you who make or sell things for new moms, you might consider supporting LST on a sponsorship level. You’ll see on the Kickstarter page, I’m offering rotating ads on the sidebar of this blog for the duration of Season 2 (January – June 2014) for $500. Your business will also be featured on a blog post explaining what I love about each of my sponsors. Ads can be geographically targeted if desired. If you think you are a good fit for an ad, please email me.

What you can do to help:

  1. Contribute to the Kickstarter. Every little bit gets me closer to my goal, and to this project continuing.
  2. Order *spark*cards to hand out at mommy & me classes, breastfeeding support groups, playgroups, or just to your friends. They’re FREE! No reason not to do this.
  3. Spread the word via Facebook and Twitter.
  4. Embed our Kickstarter video or widget on your blog. (For code, click the “Embed” link under the video on the Kickstarter page.)
  5. Write an iTunes review.

In honor of this new stage in our relationship, I dug into the archives for one of my favorite episodes from Season 1: the one in which I make my mom cry. I updated the episode with a new intro and outro with my mom, where she makes her case for why this podcast deserves to survive. Listen all the way through for my dad’s perspective. For optimal audio experience, listen with headphones.
