The Longest Shortest Time

Welcome, Joanna!

Last week we announced that we joined WNYC; today we are so excited to announce that along with that partnership comes our first hire, associate producer Joanna Solotaroff.

Joanna comes to us from Simon & Schuster’s audiobooks division, and prior to that had a career as a community organizer working with low-income families, as well as the field of women’s reproductive health. One of my post-Kickstarter goals was to find stories outside the typical public radio demographic, and that has proven harder than I expected—mostly because I have not had the time it takes to do the reporting necessary to find those stories, while also running the daily operations of the show. I have needed another person on the case, and Joanna will be filling that role (among many). She will also be sorting through the tall pile of listener submissions that have been stacking up in the background as I scramble to produce the podcast. If you sent me an awesome story and haven’t heard from me, you still might!

Joanna also does improv comedy, so I expect her to provide some much needed comic relief in between producing episodes that make us cry.

Please join me in welcoming Joanna to this project. I can’t wait to find out what stories she unearths.
