The Longest Shortest Time

Leg Book: The Conclusion

As promised, here is a look at the final pages of the book Sasha and I made about her broken leg and the lengthy healing process. If you are new to the blog, here are posts to the beginning and middle.

As you can see, Sasha grew less interested in drawing in the book after the major drama was over. But she still continues to quote lines from the book to me randomly, like “Freddy showed up!” or “Dr. Strongwater said it was healing perfectly.” And she likes to hold her Certificate of Strength. She does seem to have a residual fear of loud noises from the saw they used at the hospital to score the sides of the cast to allow for growth. My next post will be about that.

Now that our book is done, I’d love to hear more thoughts from child psychologists and therapists about our process, or if this reminds anyone of experiences with other young patients. And parents with children of any age, please share your techniques for helping your kids to heal through emotional and physical pain, big or small.
