The Longest Shortest Time

(Realistic) Songs About Babies

Today’s playlist is inspired by my friend Petia, who told me that Lyle Lovett’s “Fat Babies” got her through pregnancy and helped her her to stave off postpartum depression. This reminded me about how it’s great to have sweet songs to sing about babies, but sometimes the thing you really need is a realistic song about babies. Not that babies aren’t sweet. It’s just, sometimes they keep you up and they want a lifetime supply of milk *this instant*. And, lucky for us, there are songs about those things, too. We’ve even included one from the POV of a hungry baby (“I Want My Milk“) and one from the POV of a fetus (“Cleo“), so if you play these for your kiddo, she will feel like you really get her.

Enjoy!

3. Rufus Is a Tit Man Loudon Wainwright III
