The Longest Shortest Time

EPISODE #219: Parents Sometimes Understand

*NOTE: there is some cursing in this episode — and some talk about the tooth fairy — so you might not want to listen with your kids.

Hi, Hillary Frank here.

Nine years ago, I launched this podcast with an episode featuring my friend, Anne Sailer. When I made that episode, I had only just met Anne but I knew I liked her and I knew she had a great story to tell. I’m so happy to report that Anne is now one of my closest friends. Her two kids are in college and high school and my kid is almost ten. Last week, we got together to have coffee and celebrate how far we and LST have come since that first show.

Me + Anne!

It was easy to figure out what story to tell in that first episode—after all, Anne’s story had inspired me to start the show. But it was harder to figure out where to end it. After a lot of brainstorming, I came up with an idea that I hope encapsulates LST’s edgy-with-heart vibe. I don’t want to give away too much, but let’s just say it’s a special episode inspired by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

So grab a beverage and a snack, and find a cozy (and kid-free!) place to party with me and celebrate nearly a decade of heartwarming, tear-jerking, and utterly absurd stories about parenthood and family.

Wait, is this really GOODBYE?

For The Longest Shortest Time, yes. But for you and me? No. I’m cooking up something new. Probably about middle school. If you want to participate in that project, you can fill out this survey where I’m collecting memories and observations about middle school. And if you want to find out when I launch my next thing … whatever it is … you can sign up to be notified here. You can also find me on Instagram @thisishillaryfrank and Twitter @hillaryfrank.
