WEDLOCKED: a women’s health audio thriller!

Hi friends! I have something very exciting to share with you. For the last few years, I’ve been working on my original audiobook, WEDLOCKED, and it will be coming to your ears on October 20th, so I want to tell you a little more about it. But you don’t need to wait to order the book! You can pre-order now on any audiobook app.

Wow, an endorsement from Amy Tintera!

Okay, now for some FAQ.

What genre is this book?
It’s a feminist thriller!

Feminist thriller? What does that mean?
Wedlocked is a thriller about the pressure on women to smile through pain, both physical and emotional. There’s gaslighting, gynecology, fraught conversations about pregnancy, and a big, shocking twist that’ll change the way you think about women’s health. Or, perhaps, reaffirm that perspective! Anyway, if you like LST, this book will totally be up your alley.

Can you tell me more about the plot?
Sure! This story follows Zara, a fitness instructor on a wildly popular app called UpLift, which was created by her husband, Ezzie. As she approaches her 40th birthday, Zara feels her biological clock ticking and desperately wants a baby. Ezzie says he wants to wait for her health and the sake of the business — but Zara’s not sure how much time she’s got left.

When Zara starts to get some scary health symptoms, she mysteriously becomes happy. Like, over-the-top happy. Maybe she doesn’t want a baby, after all. But when her old flame, Oscar, comes back into her life, he drives Zara to question whether there’s something sinister behind her perpetual smile. (Yes, there are some steamy scenes too.)

Helen Laser and Fred Berman in the studio narrating Wedlocked

Why did you write this book for audio?
With a protagonist who’s a fitness influencer, I thought it would be fun to hear the difference between what Zara sounds like when she’s performing for her followers versus alone with her husband. Zara’s emotional shifts are key to this story, and I wanted listeners to feel those shifts viscerally through an actor’s voice.

Does this sound like a typical audiobook?
Yes and no. Most of the book is narrated by the great Helen Laser, whose voice you might recognize from some of your other favorite audiobooks. Helen plays Zara, and when she’s teaching a class or livestreaming with her husband (Fred Berman), you’ll hear their voices as if they’re coming through a phone. You’ll also hear Zara’s rival, Rosie (Alexis Campbell), teaching classes, as well as texts from Zara’s old flame Oscar (Ian Guerra).

There’s also some light sound design and custom music, all by The Papaya Club, which makes the listening experience more immersive and creepy.

Sounds amazing! Where can I get WEDLOCKED?
Anywhere you get audiobooks! Pre-order now so it shows up in your app as soon as it drops! (Or, if you’re reading this after October 20, 2026, it’s available to you now!)
