EPISODE #101: Kids’ Election Questions

Kids ask lots of out-there questions—which is why we like to do Unanswerable Questions shows. But sometimes their questions *are* answerable; they’re just really hard to answer. My kid has been asking me lots of big questions about this year’s presidential election. (Those are her drawings of the major party candidates up top.)

I figured your kids were asking you questions, too. So we invited you to record those questions, and send them in. Here are some of the kids you’ll hear in today’s show.

We  got comedians Hari Kondabolu and W. Kamau Bell from the great podcast Politically Re-Active to attempt to answer the kids’ more-challenging-than-you’d-think questions.

Now, Hari and Kamau are comedians, not journalists, and they admittedly wear their liberal politics on their sleeves. So you may not agree with their perspectives on some of these questions, and that’s totally fine. We think, though, that this conversation is a great starting place for age-appropriate conversations with your kids about the complex subject of politics. Our show is usually for adult ears only, but we invite you to listen to this episode with your children. Tell them what you agree with, and what you don’t. And then come back here and tell us…

What questions do YOUR kids have about politics?
We want to do this format again, with new guests. We’d love diverse perspectives here. Conservative listeners: what are YOUR kids asking?
